Whale Tale Info

The "Whale Tale" is a 2016 Boston Whaler 350 Outrage. This is a 35 foot sport fishing boat, center console, with a head (but no cabin). It is approved for 14 passengers, but is most comfortable for 10 or fewer.

The three 350hp four-stroke Mercruiser outboard motors are surprisingly quiet and smooth. Evening harbor cruises take place at 6mph maximum speed. Day trips to Stellwagen Bank (fishing and/or whale watching) or Provincetown typically take place at about 30-40mph based on weather. (The top speed is about 55mph.)

Safety features include: GPS/Chartplotter, radar, Flir infrared camera for night vision, VHF, emergency beacon, throw ring, flare guns, fire extinguishers, and first-aid kits. There are 14 life preservers aboard.

When we go to Provincetown or Stellwagen Bank, waves can be choppy, which means the boat can bounce around a bit while underway. Typically we leave the dock at 11am. Once we get outside the harbor to Boston Light (20 minutes), Stellwagen Bank or Provincetown are roughly an hour away. Often we do not return to Boston until 4:30pm.

It will feel anywhere from 10-20 degrees cooler than land when the boat is underway. This means you should consider bringing a heavy sweatshirt even on summer outings.
